Pop Art & Cartoon Creations Camp at The Art Barn Studio blends bold colour theory, cultural critique, and playful design in a week-long dive into two of the most iconic visual styles of the 20th and 21st centuries. Campers will explore the history of Pop Art, from the rise of Warhol, Lichtenstein, and Yayoi Kusama to today’s playful takes on mass media, packaging, and pop culture. They’ll experiment with techniques like graphic line-work, halftone dots, and repeating imagery to create vibrant, high-impact works on canvas and mixed media.

In the second half of the week, students will enter the world of Cartoon Creations—an introduction to character design rooted in classic animation and modern illustration. They’ll learn about shape language, emotion through exaggeration, and visual storytelling. The highlight? Each student will bring their own character to life by building a 3D sculpture using clay, papier-mâché, or other tactile materials. This camp combines fine art principles with imagination, offering both historical context and creative freedom—perfect for young artists ready to make bold visual statements.
